A study by the Exeter university showed that drinking beetroot juice can reinforce our stamina, so that we could train 16% more. Beetroot’s high content in nitrate ions lowers the organism’s needs for oxygen, making training easier. Even though the exact mechanism hasn’t been proven, researchers assume that the transformation of nitric ions to nitrogen monoxide is responsible for improving stamina. It has 44 calories for every 100 gr.
